End of Summer at the Block Party

I have to admit that I get really envious when I see my cousins abroad post pictures of their kids (or of themselves) enjoying their parks, playgrounds and open spaces that seem to come so naturally to first world countries. I often dream of having a picnic in a park where my son can run around and I can simply relax and enjoy the fresh air. But we're right smack in the middle of a concrete jungle, kind of like the aerial shot that Daphne Osena posted, so parks and playgrounds have become a luxury of some sort.

 

My husband and I are playing with the idea of moving farther south to Santa Rosa, Laguna in a few years time so our son can grow up in a less frenzied environment where he can actually walk to school and not spend hours in traffic gridlock. That will take a lot of planning though before we can uproot ourselves from the metro, so for now, we try to seize on whatever opportunity is available to us to enjoy parks and outdoor activities. And being the park starved family that we are, of course we scooted over to The Block Party at Makiling Park in Ayala Alabang Village for its end of summer shindig.
