My favorite chinito turned half a year older 2 weeks ago and I'm amazed at how quickly he's growing and learning new tricks. He grabs everything within reach, babbles and screeches like a maniac and breaks out into the sweetest smile all the time.
He's turning out to be quite the mama's boy and his toothless grins when he sees me just make my heart melt. But although he prefers his mama (Me! Me!) to everyone else, he also doesn't protest if he's with other people. He's such a smiley and pleasant baby that he never fails to charm everyone with his sunny disposition.
We started him on solids right when he turned six months old and he's been devouring pureed carrots, sayote, squash, banana and lugaw ever since. This means that his breastmilk baon during the day has been reduced to 2 packs, from the original 3 packs when he was still exclusively breastfeeding.
This development makes me so happy because it has been such a challenge to come up with his daily ration of three packs of milk (15 oz). I would pump 3-4 times in the office and even during our early morning feeds just to produce the needed 3 packs. There was a time I even missed work because I only had 2 packs for him and didn't want him to get hungry. I really envied those who had a freezer full of milk for their babies. But thankfully we have passed those days and I'm even beginning to slowly build up my own breastmilk stash. Yay!
Going back to starting Ace on solids, while it has removed my breastmilk supply stress, it has also brought with it a new challenge: smelly poop! Enough said.
Baby, baby, baby, even if you grow up to be 6 feet tall, you'll always be my little ray of sunshine. Mommy loves you so, so much!
